Popular
gay porn star Arpad Miklos has been found dead in his New York apartment.
On the latest
installment of "Gwissues,"
Howard Bragman interviewed New York writer Randal Lynch, who confirmed that
Miklos (whose real name is Peter Kozma) died Feb. 3 after having apparently
committed suicide. He was 45 years old.
Though Lynch said that a suicide note had been
found, he offered few additional details. "He was a great guy on top of
[being a porn star]. There was a lot more to him than just that surface
persona," he said. "He was a very active person in the gay
community."
"He wasn't happy, I would say, but he
wasn't going into crying fits," Lynch added. "He was a hard nut to
crack."
In 2012, the Hungarian-born Miklos gained more
mainstream exposure when he starred in Seattle singer-songwriter Perfume
Genius's music video for "Hood," which was eventually
banned from
YouTube.
Among those to offer their condolences was co-star Colby Keller, who described Miklos as
"an incredible performer" who "kept cast and crew continually
entertained" with his sense of humor off-screen, in a poignant blog post
"Like any physically-demanding,
socially-vexed form of labor, sex work isn't easy work -- not least because of
the stigma and meager income," Keller noted. "We should remember to
celebrate Arpad, the sexy man behind the scenes and in front of the camera who
gave so much of himself for our desire, and not condemn a choice privately
considered and personally significant enough to result in such extreme
measures." (huffingtonpost.com, 5-2-2013)
