The travel site Expedia.com has added a stirring commercial to their “Find Yours” campaign that strongly supports marriage equality.
The web advertisement called “Find Your Understanding” tells the story of a father Artie Goldstein coming to terms with his daughter marrying another woman as he travels to their wedding in California. At first Artie explains that the expectations he had for his daughter’s life included a husband and marrying another woman was “not the dream I had for my daughter.” “What’s this going to look like, two girls getting married?” he wonders while traveling to their wedding. The women, Jill Goldstein and Nikki Weiss, were featured on The Real L Word. “You have to make a decision,” Goldstein explains. “Are you going to have a daughter that you are going to maintain a very wonderful relationship for the rest of your life or are you going to lose that child.”
Dara Khosrowshahi, Expedia’s chief executive officer, told Huffington Post he was proud to share the family’s unique experience. “At the heart of Artie’s story is the idea that travel is deeply personal,” Khosrowshahi noted. “We’ve built our entire brand behind that idea. The trip to his daughter’s wedding changed his perspective on fatherhood, his daughter’s happiness and her same-sex marriage.” (gayexpress.co.nz)
