Inauguration of the first in Mulhouse France plaque honoring the victims of the deportation on grounds of homosexuality
Jean-Marie Bockel, Secretary of State, and the Forgotten (s) Memory officially unveiled a plaque dedicated to the memory of Pierre Seel and the other anonymous Mulhouse arrested and deported on grounds of homosexuality: a first National homosexual victims of Nazi barbarism.
Jean-Marie Bockel concluded his speech with these words:
Today we are here to pay tribute to his memory, those of others like him, and his fight. The approach does not divide memorial. The memorial process by recognizing the particular drama of each and all those who have been targeted, instead gathers, unites. Meets not only the victims, those who have known, those who want to bring their memory. It meets all of the national community about Republican values, values of respect for others. We work from memory, but also works justice, not forgetting the person of Pierre Seel.
