Apo Thavma (By a Miracle) is directed by Marinos Kartikkis,
a wholly admirable fellow who works as a high-school teacher and manages
– by being diligent, organised and talented – to make films ‘on the side’, even
in the non-existent Cyprus film industry. (His title may be even more appropriate than he knows.) The film, dovetailing two separate stories
– a couple mourning a lost child and a young gay man looking for love –
got a good response and will hopefully play in Cyprus soon.
