Every Instagram user knows that adding a few relevant hashtags to your photos is a great way to help them get seen by many more people – but it now seems like the app is hiding several hashtags relevant to our LGBTI communities.

Discovering that many Instragrammers use certain hashtags to spread pornography – which isn’t allowed – it’s blocking or limiting them.

The hashtags #gays #lesbian #lesbiansofinstagram #bi and even just #woman or #women show just a few filtered results when you search for them.

“Recent posts from #lesbian are currently hidden because the community has reported some content that may not meet Instagram’s community guidelines,” the app informs you.

Here’s a complete list of Instagram’s restricted hashtags. Many others, which would clearly led to pornography, are banned altogether and cannot be used in searches.
